A Moroccan feature film on family, love, and the silent struggle of divorce.

Help us bring this powerful story to life — and support real women’s lives in the process.

What Is The Signature?

The Signature is an emotionally charged, beautifully crafted drama told through the eyes of Nour, an 8-year-old girl navigating her parents’ divorce. Through her confusion, shame at school, and her mother Samia’s struggles, we glimpse the quiet, often unseen pain of separation in Moroccan families.

As the story unfolds, it becomes one of resilience and renewal — culminating in Nour’s own marriage as a young woman. It explores how, even when love is lost, it can be found again — in new, profound ways.

Written by Moroccan journalist and author Samira Meghdad, this is one of the first Moroccan feature films to candidly tackle the topic of divorce through the lens of a child.

Why This Film Matters

Divorce in Morocco — and much of the Arab world — remains taboo, especially for women. Though legally protected, in practice, Moroccan women often face stigma, social isolation, and a lack of support, particularly if they live abroad or have young children.

This film opens a conversation that has long been silenced.

With its unique blend of emotional storytelling and social critique, The Signature offers a cimatic journey into the fictional, however real realities of divorce — told with sensitivity, complexity, and hope.

Chair’s statement from Al Hasaniya

‘We are proud to collaborate on this first-of-its-kind film and encourage you to support this vital story. This film evokes the noble Royal sentiments, which have been demonstrated in the new family code about women’s rights, and no where has this call for change been so poignant as in the work delivered by Al-Hasaniya Moroccan Women’s Centre-London-UK.

We are delighted to partner with Flaneur Sensory in this first of its kind feature film that raises a pertinent issue on the plight of Moroccan women when divorcing. Divorce remains a huge taboo, not only in Morocco but across the Arab world. The Moroccan legal system is clear and equitable when it comes to women’s rights, but the practice is another matter. This film intends to explore the challenges faced by Moroccan women when divorcing, especially those with children under age and those who live abroad. We commend the team at Flaneur Sensory for this endeavour and we hope that you will support this initiative.
